Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Original Articles

Original research articles presenting new findings and advancements in medical sciences. These articles should provide detailed methodology, results, and discussion. Submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process.

Scope and Content: Original articles should report on original research studies that contribute significantly to the field of medical science. These articles should present novel findings, methodologies, or advancements in medical research.

Structure:

  • Abstract: A concise summary of the study's objectives, methods, results, and conclusions (250-300 words).
  • Introduction: Background information, rationale for the study, and clearly stated objectives.
  • Methods: Detailed description of the study design, participants, procedures, and statistical analysis.
  • Results: Presentation of the study findings with appropriate use of tables, figures, and statistical data.
  • Discussion: Interpretation of the results, implications for medical science, comparison with existing literature, and limitations.
  • Conclusion: Summary of the key findings and their potential impact on the field.
  • References: Comprehensive list of cited literature in Vancouver style

Length: Up to 3,500 words excluding references, tables, and figures.

Peer Review: All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure accuracy, validity, and originality.

Review Articles

Comprehensive reviews of current topics in medical research and clinical practice. These articles summarize existing knowledge, identify gaps, and suggest future research directions. Submissions are peer-reviewed and evaluated for thoroughness and relevance.

Scope and Content: Review articles should provide a comprehensive analysis of the current state of research on a particular topic within the medical sciences. These articles should synthesize existing literature, identify trends, and suggest future research directions.

Structure:

  • Abstract: A brief overview of the topic, key findings, and conclusions (250-300 words).
  • Introduction: Background information and objectives of the review.
  • Main Body: Organized sections that cover different aspects of the topic, including a critical evaluation of the literature.
  • Conclusion: Summary of key insights and recommendations for future research.
  • References: Extensive list of sources reviewed.

Length: Up to 7000 words excluding references, tables, and figures.

Peer Review: All submissions are subject to a double-blind peer review process to ensure thoroughness and scholarly accuracy.

Submission Fee: None. DOMJ does not charge for submission, processing, or publication of manuscripts.

Case Reports

Detailed reports of clinical cases that provide insights into unique medical conditions, treatments, or outcomes. These reports should highlight unusual or novel occurrences that contribute to medical knowledge. Each case report is peer-reviewed.

Scope and Content: Case reports should describe unique or rare clinical cases that provide valuable insights into diagnosis, treatment, and clinical outcomes. They should highlight novel aspects of clinical practice or add to the existing body of medical knowledge.

Structure:

  • Abstract: Summary of the case, key findings, and implications (150-200 words).
  • Introduction: Brief introduction to the clinical condition and relevance of the case.
  • Case Presentation: Detailed description of the patient's history, clinical findings, diagnostic workup, treatment, and outcomes.
  • Discussion: Interpretation of the case findings, comparison with existing literature, and lessons learned.
  • Conclusion: Summary of the case's significance and recommendations for clinical practice.
  • References: List of relevant literature.

Length: Up to 2500 words excluding references, tables, and figures.

Peer Review: All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure clinical relevance and originality.

Letter to the Editor

Brief communications expressing opinions, comments on articles published in DOMJ, or short reports on recent developments in medical science. These are reviewed by the editorial board. Peruse Letters to the Editor for community feedback, discussions, and short reports on topical issues.

Scope and Content: Letters to the Editor should provide constructive commentary or critique on articles recently published in DOMJ or discuss relevant topics of interest to the medical community. These letters should be concise and focused.

Structure:

  • Content: Clear and concise argument or commentary on the specific topic or article.
  • References: Limited number of references to support the discussion (if applicable).

Length: Up to 1000 words including references.

Peer Review: All letters are reviewed by the editorial team for relevance, clarity, and contribution to the discussion.

Submission Fee: None. DOMJ does not charge for submission, processing, or publication of manuscripts.

Commentary

Expert analysis and discussion of current issues, recent research, and significant developments in the medical field. Submissions are reviewed by the editorial board.

Editorials

Invited commentaries and perspectives from experts in the field, providing insights into current issues, trends, and future directions in medical research and practice. Editorials are reviewed by the editorial board.
